Martineztown House

With sadness the Board of Directors must inform you that after more than 85 years of service to the Albuquerque community, the Martineztown House of Neighborly Service will suspend its services for the next six months, effective October 31, 2011. The decision was made by the Board of Directors in light of enrollment being at less than one third the capacity, a net loss of more than $150,000 over the last four years, and a reserve account nearing depletion.

This is sad news. However, the board will continue intact and input will be sought to modify the vision of the House and replenish the reserves in hopes of reopening at a later date. The Board extends a special thank you to Executive Director, Eugenia Cabiedes, for twenty years of dedicated service. Thank you also to the committed staff, the Presbytery, churches, and individual donors whose contributions helped the House touch thousands of lives.

The Board encourages churches and individuals who planned to give to the House for 2012 to PLEASE follow through on that intention, and is grateful to the Presbytery for its commitment to the 2012 budget. Funding is still needed for continued expenses and to prepare for the future. Please keep everyone affected by this decision in your prayers."
